The BLS for Healthcare Providers - Classroom Course is designed to provide a wide variety of healthcare professionals the ability to recognize several life-threatening emergencies.

The program consists of:

  • High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
  • The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components
  • Important early use of an AED
  • Effective ventilations using a barrier device
  • Importance of teams in multirescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
  • Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

HeartCode Parts II and III incorporates skills practice and skills testing into a single course. During Part II, a certified AHA instructor will allow students time to practice the skills they will be assessed on prior to the Part III skills test. Upon successful completion of the cognitive and skills tests, students receive a course completion card.
To register, please select a skills practice and testing date below (Part II and III). You may chose a date at a later time by selecting "Will Contact to Schedule the Skills Practice/Testing Date".You must have completed Part I prior to attending Part II and III. Please note that you must complete Part II and III within 60 days of completing Part I.

HeartCode® ACLS is an interactive three-part course designed to provide healthcare professionals with the competencies to effectively perform advanced emergency cardiac care. HeartCode Part I is a Web-based, self-paced instructional program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision making and skills development. This program presents 10 interactive, adult, in-hospital cases to teach the Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support treatment algorithms. To be successful in any ACLS course, students should be able to identify ECG rhythms and should know pharmacology specific to cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies before beginning the course.

The HeartCode® BLS is an interactive three-part course designed for healthcare professionals seeking an alternative (nonclassroom) method for completing an initial or renewal BLS for Healthcare Providers Course. HeartCode Part I is a Web-based, self-paced instructional program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision making and skills development. The program has been updated to reflect new science in the 2010 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. Key science changes include the new CPR sequence, the addition of AED use in infants, a focus on high-quality CPR and the emphasis on switching healthcare providers frequently to maintain quality chest compressions.

This includes personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care and critical care units such as physicians, nurses, paramedics and others who need a PALS course completion card and are seeking an alternative (non-classroom) method for completing an initial or update PALS course.. HeartCode Part I is a Web-based, self-paced instructional program that uses eSimulation technology to allow students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. In this environment, students apply their knowledge to real-time decision making and skills development. This program presents12 pediatric, hospital-based, patient cases with up to four healthcare providers to teach the Pediatric Advance Life Support treatment algorithms. To be successful in any PALS course, students should be able to identify ECG rhythms and should know pharmacology specific to cardiopulmonary arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies before beginning the course.
